Happy Halloween with two spooky pumpkins 

 

 A - Day

  


  • The YES program will not be in session today 10/31/18. YES students should go home at their regular dismissal. YES will be back in session 11/1/18.
  • West's Word of the Week is solution. Here it is used in a sentence: "After replacing (x) with different variables, Suzy was able to determine the solution of the equation." Improve your reading and writing by using the Word of the Week!
  • ATTENTION AWE MEMBERS - There is NO AWE this week. Our next meeting is NEXT Friday, 11/9, in room 140 following dismissal until 3:30pm.
  • ATTENTION MATH TEAM MEMBERS - There is NO Math Team Practice this week. Our next practice will be next week on Wednesday, November 7th in room 140 following dismissal. Any 7th or 8th grade student still interested in joining should attend.
  • Attention all staff and students: Brentwood Unity Tee Shirts and sweatshirts are on sale. Please see your first period Ms. Golinski in the library for an order form. Shirts are black with green letters and range from $5-$20. Money is due by this Friday 11/2/18.
  • Attention 7th and 8th girls interested in playing volleyball. There will be an informational meeting this Friday November 2nd until 3:30 pm after walkers are dismissed in room 145. Tryouts will start on Monday November 5th, all girls interested must have their physical completed in order to try out. If you have any questions see coach Gamboa in room 145. Mini bus riders must arrange their own transportation home."
  • Attention Authors……your entries for the current Author of the Month Contest are due no later than next Friday 11/9. Also, the pizza party for the authors who won our first Author of the Month contest is this Friday 11/2 in rm. 221.
  • The Girls soccer team recorded back to back wins over schools Amityville and Copiague. Eighth grader, Tiffany Gonzalez netted two goals in Friday's game to lift West to a 2-1 victory over Amityville. In yesterday's game against Copiague, the girls took an early lead when 7th grader Kiara Espinal scored off of an assist from Mariella Marquez. Copiague was able to tie the game at 1-1 but West never gave up. Captain Ashley Sanchez was able to score the game winning goal off of a rebounded shot in the 5th quarter.
  • Attention West Middle School students are invited to attend a fun fall social event! Student Council will be hosting a Halloween dance on Thursday November 1st from 2:30-4:30. Tickets will be $5.00 and sold during lunch periods. Students must have a permission slip AND ID to purchase a ticket. ***Mini Bus Riders must purchase their tickets by Friday, October 26th and make arrangements with SMO to get a mini bus home***
  • Attention West Middle School: Do you have a family member who was in the military? West Middle School would like to honor them on Friday November 9th. Please make sure to hand in your blue invitations to your Social Studies teacher. Teacher please place returned invitations into Mrs. Bonner's mailbox.
  • We West Middle's Spirit Card Fundraiser is here!! Cards will be sold during lunch periods and have been extended to Friday!! Cards cost just $10 each and offer you discounts to so many local businesses. … if you sell 3 cards you'll receive your ticket to the BMX bike show. If you sell just 10 cards you will receive a mobile disco ball along with VIP treatment at the BMX show! All VIPs will have front row seating, as well as, a meet and greet with the BMX performers!!! Remember to SELL, SELL, SELL!
  • Attention West Middle School! Now through November 9th, all four middle school as well as the high schools will be hosting a clothing drive for homeless Veterans on Long Island. We will be collecting new and packaged men's and women's underwear, crew socks, and packaged t-shirts. Please place your donations in the bins in the front lobby. Please be generous and give back to those you gave up so much.
  • Mini bus riders are reminded, you must gather ALL of your belongings BEFORE you report to your 8th period class. You are not permitted to go to your lockers when mini bus riders are dismissed.
  • Just a reminder: if you are a walker or staying for any afterschool activities (sports included) you MUST stay in your classes until walkers are dismissed. If you are found in the hallways BEFORE walkers have been dismissed you will be given an administrative consequence.
