Brentwood's newest middle schoolers had the opportunity to learn about fascinating divisions of science at the Grade 6 STEAM Camp this past week at Laurel Park Elementary School.
During the week, campers made stops in different classrooms to learn about crime scene investigation (CSI), Vex Robotics and drones, amusement park physics and many more learning adventures! Activities included campers discovering what their fingerprints look like in addition to finding clues at a "crime scene" set up in one of the classrooms using a Caesar cipher; programming robotic cars and drones and controlling them to move around objects or perform flips in the air; creating bracelets of their names in Morse code; and designing safe apparatuses to hold and cushion an egg that was later dropped from the height of the playground slide.
STEAM Camp continues next week with fifth-graders getting involved in the scientific process!
